« Our philosophy is based on the idea that design is not only a way of thinking, but also a method for understanding and interacting with the world. Our goal is to enable our students to understand design as a complex system based on practical skills and solid know-how. We teach them to approach a project holistically. Ultimately, they will learn all the specificities of design and trades that can produce an object or a system, for a limited series production or mass, craft or industrial. »
Constantinos Hoursoglou, Program's Director
an interdisciplinary teaching approach
The Europass Bachelor's in Product Design is a complete 3-year program that follows the European Bachelor's format. It is intended for people with a taste for design, objects, drawing, manual work, materials, materials and colors. It is based on an interdisciplinary pedagogical approach where students are encouraged to go beyond traditional design subjects, to identify and understand global trends and contemporary influences.
BECOME FULLY-DEVELOPED PRODUCT DESIGNERS
Over the course of three years students will hone their skills to become fully-developed product designers who have mastered the techniques and tools of the trade.
They will be able to understand the ins and outs of a project's creative environment.
They will have developed a creative sensitivity conducive to creating not just good but beautiful product design projects.
TRANSMISSION OF A TECHNICAL AND CREATIVE KNOW-HOW
All the subjects taught aim at transmitting a high level of technical and creative know-how in the field of product design. The school year runs from September to June with 35 class hours per week. For an ideal learning environment, classes are limited to a maximum of twenty students.
INITIATION, DEVELOPMENT AND PERFECTING
The three-year program is rolled out as follows: initiation, development and perfecting students' knowledge. Pedagogy is resolutely practical and concrete, and comes in four axes:
- The practice in "studio" mode, phase during which students are, from the first year, supervised by design professionals through the realization of different projects, most of which are real work.
- Contextual lessons, with the history of design and a wide range of topics related to the design of an object and its life cycle: ethics, semiotics, creativity and methodology.
- Technical lessons, with the teaching of the latest software for 2D and 3D design, prototyping workshops, manufacturing processes, materials, materials and technologies that will enable them to develop innovative products.
- The interdisciplinary workshops, during which, three times a year, the students of the school are confronted, for a whole week, with the resolution of a concrete creative problematic.
Internships, AN ANCHOR IN REAL PROFESSIONAL LIFE
The Bachelor curriculum imposes a presence of the student in his future professional environment. IPAC Design has made the choice of full-time professional immersion for 9 months.
These compulsory internship times are divided into 4 months in the second year (October-January) and 5 months in the third year (March-July).
EXTENSIVE FIELDS OF ACTIVITY
After three years, an interior designer is ready to enter the professional world through many paths: create a collective, start their own company, join a design agency, a consulting firm or a well-known brand's design team.
The program also opens the possibility of continuing studies to obtain a Master's degree.
